KS3  (Yrs 7 - 9)

This Key Stage involves Years  7 - 9;  your child would be in a secondary school. These are key years that your child needs to grasp those skills that underpins whether or nor not a student will be successful enough at the GCSEs to gain entry to a good sixth form college and to read subjects that guarantee respectable job. The areas that years 7-9 pupils need to focus are Mathematics English Language and Science; but rather unfortunately, that is not usually the case for most pupils and KS3 is being considered as 3 ‘wasted’ years.

Please see this OFSTED Report.

 Remedy

Parents can take control and make KS3 very productive for their children; the effects of this positive action would be   reflected at the end of KS4 years where GCSE is the externally assessed summative exams; parents will also be able to witness this positive reflection by measuring their children's confidence which factually comes from being academically-competitive   among their peers in the classroom.

 KS4  (Yrs 10 - 11)

From the perspective in value the GCSE exam places on an adolescent’s life, it can be concluded that it is a metaphoric “Y Junction” situation; bringing to the foreground, whether or not your child would be successful academically. It is by this externally assessed exam that most post 16 institutions take their reference-assessment whether your child is academically fit enough to undertake a particular post 16 program, though Universities may rely on a student’s attainments at Sixth Form level, Sixth Form instructions rely heavily on a GCSE attainments for their conditional offers. We have witnessed it in many cases that if an aspiring Sixth Form student’s place offer into a University falls into a grey area in terms of a program of a particular University, assessment will normally be defaulted to a student’s GCSE attainments. In other word, it must be noted that better attainment at the GSCE stage (KS4) cannot be over emphasised.
